The Working Artist - Lancifer

1. Tell us a little about yourself and what you’re up to right now.

Hey, I’m Lancifer… Well, I’m a rapper/pop singer/songwriter and I like to go hard. I moved from my hometown in middle of nowhere Wyoming after 11th grade to Nashville, TN to pursue playing keys for rock/pop bands and being homeless haha. I’ve been writing and producing hip hop and electronica songs since I was real young and rapping and singing, along with playing drums and piano.  After playing for bands like Mike’s Pawn Shop and Heyhihello, I realized what I really wanted in all of this was to be myself, wear a pink tuxedo, and for every show to be a high energy performance and huge dance party with positive songs written about my life experiences.  Right now, I’ve spent the summer writing songs and touring festivals and shows, and am about to head back to LA. I released a 5 song E.P. in April, recorded at Toby Mac’s studio in Franklin, TN and am about to release another 3 singles w/ videos after the release of an upcoming music video with Youtube top 100 content creator Meekakitty. Then I’m going to tour the world and begin my massive takeover.

2. You’re super interactive with your fans.  How do they inspire you, and how are you able to stay so connected to them?

I love my fans so much! I do what I’m doing for them, not for me. They’re just like friends… If I need a ride to the airport or someone to eat lunch with, I just tweet or Fb out and someone I may have never even met and me get to hang out! haha. Especially through out the last 3 years, being a struggling artist with no car, no money, and often times no place to stay, fans have always been there for me and I will always be there for them. Even if I haven’t to spend hours responding to messages and emails. They’re worth the time, and you never know when someone might realy need someone to talk to.  Through social networks and real life meet and greets, hang outs, shows, etc. I’m able to stay very connected with them.

3. How do you utilize technology to keep you hustling like you do?

I utilize social networks every day, spending time replying to facebook messages, tweets, emails, comments, etc. Sometimes it’s a lot of work but it pays off and I love doing it. Youtube is a great way to get people spreading the word. I try to release a video every week or two. Whether it’s a video blog update, a bible study, a skateboarding video, music, or a crazy video of me playing tag at the zoo with friends. Sometimes I’ll ask fans to make videos to my songs or do CD giveaway contests. Technology is involved on all levels of my career. Many times I’ll end up doing a 14 hour work day, between songwriting, connecting with fans, promoting and marketing, shooting and editing video, sending emails, practicing live show. All of it involving technology. With all of that, the AG app definitely helps me keep track and not have a head explosion.

Keep up with Lane on Facebook and YouTube!
